Fund-Raising

Registration fees account for approximately 50% of the funding needed to operate the CBSL.  The CBSL
relies on the fund-raising  efforts of its members to help subsidize the costs of the league.  Other towns have done away with fund-raising due to lack of participation and have raised registration fees accordingly.  The CBSL is making every effort to avoid this.  We need the support and help of all parents with our fund-raising.

The fund-raising events are as follows:

Poinsettia Sale

Every November the CBSL Board of Directors, League VP's, and fund-raising volunteers make telephone calls to every family in the league.  Parents are asked if they would like to purchase a Poinsettia plant for the holidays.  Many parents anxiously await this call because they have been purchasing Poinsettias through the league for years, and are very familiar with the quality and beauty of these plants.  We offer a variety of sizes and colors which may be picked up at the Centennial Avenue pool just in time for the holidays.  The merchants and business owners of Cranford have been particularly instrumental in making this a holiday tradition.

These plants are beautiful and look great in your home or office.  Because of the considerable effort that goes into selling plants, please help our volunteers by picking up your plant early.  As a reminder, sometimes we miss phoning your residence or going to your business.  Don't let that stop you - please email our league office and we will take your order.

Sponsors

The CBSL fields over 90 teams every season.  Each team is sponsored by a business or individual for a
nominal fee.  The sponsor's name is printed on each uniform as well as in the league schedule book which is distributed to 1,100 players.  This year, every sponsor will be listed in the sponsor section in the league's web site.  A link will be available for every sponsor who has their own web site.

We encourage you to visit the sponsor page and frequent their business.  These great people are
responsible for providing half the equipment and uniform budget each year.

Snack Stands

The Adams Avenue Softball complex and Memorial Baseball complex operate snack stands which are run by snack stand coordinators.  The parents of each child are required to work at least one game for every child participating in the CBSL.  The income generated by these stands is vital to the operating budget for the league.

Cranford Invitational Tournament

The Cranford Invitational Tournament is held each June - July for 8 through 11 year old all-star baseball teams from 24 towns in the state.  This tournament is not necessarily a fund-raising event, but monies are generated, and funneled directly back to the CBSL operating fund.  This tournament is considered to be one of the premier baseball tournaments in the state and is held at the Memorial Complex.  Parents of all tournament team players are required to work snack stand, score keeping, announcing, and field maintenance duties throughout the tournament.  This is a very exciting and enjoyable tournament for all involved.
